Your Opportunity:
This exciting and dynamic role will be a key contributor within the Office of General Counsel. Reporting directly to the General Counsel and Corporate Secretary, this role will interact regularly with Executive and Senior Leader offices of the various health organizations. The role will assist with day to day operations of the office, conduct research and develop strategic legal resources and materials. The Paralegal will engage with many internal and external stakeholders.
Description:
This Paralegal position provides coordination for a variety of functions within the team in support of the vision, mission and business plan of Alberta Health Services. Working under limited guidance, this position is responsible for: assisting lawyers in all matters related to legal matters, including day-to-day administration, file collection and distribution; document drafting and formatting; and strategizing with and other various interactions with clients, as required. This position assists the General Counsel and Corporate Secretary in administrative and leadership matters. Consulting with other professionals within Alberta Health Services as required, this position interprets client needs, assesses requirements and identifies solutions to standard issues and requests.

A minimum of an Undergrad Degree or Paralegal Diploma. Previous experience of a minimum of five years related legal experience in private and/or public sector legal environment or in an organization of significant size, complexity and diversity is preferred (healthcare experience an asset). A combination of education, skills and experience may be considered. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook) is required

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Effective communicator with strong organizational skills, client focused orientation and commitment to providing professional quality services. Ability to communicate effectively with a variety of stakeholders to respond to standard requests and relay information. Experience in research, data analysis and/or interpretation, evaluation methodologies, and developing effective reports Ability to handle sensitive corporate and legal issues. Possess excellent interpersonal skills and projects a professional manner in all internal and external relationships. Flexibility to adjust to changing priorities, ability to use initiative, take responsibility, be proactive and work in a complex environment. Excellent organizational skills required with attention to detail.
