Administrative Support III
Your Opportunity:
Reporting to the Supervisor, Access and Disclosure, Edmonton, North and Central Zone. This position is responsible for supporting and processing the release of information requests related to continuity of patient care and the access and disclosure of health information. Working within a hybrid health record environment, this includes accessing health information in multiple formats - paper, electronic and microfilm. To ensure timely and accurate processing of requests, tasks may include, but are not limited to, processing requests for health information, answering incoming calls, greeting clients, mail intake, assessing requests for appropriate consent, validating patient identification, logging requests, retrieval and filing of records, copying, faxing, scanning, and mailing of health information. As well as other duties directly related to the operation or maintenance of the Access and Disclosure area within HIM as assigned by the supervisor. Site specific duties may vary throughout the province.

Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent.
Additional Required Qualifications:Ability to provide a high level of customer service. Ability to analyze, problem solve and make discretionary decisions in compliance with provincial and federal legislation, AHS (Alberta Health Services) policy, and AHS Legal & Privacy. Technical aptitude for information systems, computer applications, and navigating between multiple electronic sources. Technical aptitude for computer applications, such as: Microsoft Office, Outlook, Teams, Adobe. Knowledge of basic office equipment, including fax, photocopier, personal computer, and multi-line telephones. Ability to organize and prioritize workload in a high volume, high paced and ever-changing work environment. English language skills in reading, writing and comprehension and effective oral and written communication required. Must be self-motivated and independent. Must possess conflict management skills. Possess a high level of decision making and critical thinking skills.
Preferred Qualifications:Medical Office Assistant Certificate, Hospital Unit Clerk Certificate, Health Information Office Assistant. Medical terminology certificate. 1-3 years' experience working in a medical office. Keyboarding skills with a minimum typing speed of 45 wpm. A typing test and an assessment based on medical terminology will be administered for selected candidates.
