Working Leader - Environmental Services
Your Opportunity:
Alberta Health Services (AHS) is looking for a dependable, self-motivated individual for the position of Environmental Services Working Leader that is dedicated to both high-quality work and safety. This temporary part-time position is located at the Sturgeon Community Hospital. Reporting to the Manager or Supervisor(s) of Environmental Services, the Working Leader position is responsible for performing all duties of the Environmental II position, such as regular/isolation discharge cleaning, floor restoration, use of industrial cleaning equipment, and collection and transportation of all waste streams within a hospital environment. The leadership responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to organizing workloads, providing direction and guidance to frontline employees, assisting with scheduling, department organization, and the completion of quality audits. Must be able to prioritize and multitask, using sound judgment, and communicate professionally.
Description:
As a Working Leader - Environmental, you will be responsible for monitoring and directing the day-to-day workload of the Environmental Services department and ensuring maintenance of cleaning equipment and supplies. Your typical duties as the Environmental Working Leader may include developing and maintaining staff schedules; assigning and checking work of the Environmental Services department; assisting with equipment breakdown investigations and providing recommendations for repairs; and coordinating quality assurance functions. You will ensure quality and performance of cleaning tasks in accordance with AHS standards and practices.

Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent. Physically capable to walk and/or stand for the duration of your shift, and perform repetitive physical movements.
Additional Required Qualifications:2 years’ experience performing Environmental Services-related duties in a hospital or institution is required. Comprehensive knowledge of all aspects of assigned responsibilities, department policies, procedures and standards is required. Extensive knowledge of floor care restoration, cleaning equipment and tools, basic maintenance and troubleshooting is required. Knowledge of WHMIS is required. Basic knowledge of computer programs such as Word, Excel and email is required. Must be able to work with minimal supervision while effectively directing staff. Composure and the ability to make decisions in emergency situations are essential. Physical requirements include repetitive physical movements, lifting, pushing and pulling with 30 lbs of force. Preferred Qualifications:Preference will be given to applicants who have a Supervisory/Management Certificate and/or related experience. Experience working in Environmental or Laundry services is an asset.
