Your Opportunity:

Environmental Services (ES) at Alberta Health Services (AHS) is a patient- and customer-focused department responsible for 24/7 cleaning, laundry, and waste management functions that support safe, high-quality care environments. As the first line of defense against infection, ES teams play a critical role in preventing the spread of pathogens and ensuring a clean, safe space for patients, staff, and visitors. The Working Leader – Environmental Services is a key leadership role within the Linen & Environmental Services (LES) portfolio, reporting to the Manager and Supervisor of Environmental Services Operations for the Central Zone. This role supports service delivery in accordance with AHS standards and practices, including environmental cleaning, linen quota management and laundry services (including personal laundry where applicable), waste stream management, and working within systems such as Connect Care. In this role, you will provide frontline leadership and direction to staff, overseeing daily workflow, organizing workloads, and assisting with staff scheduling to ensure operational goals and deadlines are met. You will conduct quality assurance audits, support staff orientation and training, and ensure compliance with AHS policies, procedures, and WH&S guidelines. Responsibilities also include monitoring inventory and linen quotas, coordinating equipment maintenance and repairs, supporting payroll and timesheet processes, and acting as a liaison with external service providers. Utilizing strong communication and customer-service skills, you will address concerns and service requests, collaborate with onsite and offsite teams, and ensure timely, high-quality service delivery. This position also requires working with the Connect Care program and may involve performing routine housekeeping duties on the floor as needed to support site operations.

Description:

As a Working Leader - Environmental, you will be responsible for monitoring and directing the day-to-day workload of the Environmental Services department and ensuring maintenance of cleaning equipment and supplies. Your typical duties as the Environmental Working Leader may include developing and maintaining staff schedules; assigning and checking work of the Environmental Services department; assisting with equipment breakdown investigations and providing recommendations for repairs; and coordinating quality assurance functions. You will ensure quality and performance of cleaning tasks in accordance with AHS standards and practices.

Required Qualifications:
