Assisted Living Alberta has an exciting opportunity for a full time Unit Manager at the Rising Sun Long Term Care (LTC), located at the Oilfields General Hospital, to support the management of the long term care program. The Rising Sun LTC is home to 30 elderly residents. Nestled 58 km southwest of Calgary in beautiful Diamond Valley, Alberta, the vibrant Rising Sun LTC offers an excellent rural nursing opportunity in a unique and diverse Assisted Living Alberta Continuing Care Type A facility. As a small, close knit community, there are amazing opportunities to make a significant impact. Reporting to the Area Manager, the Unit Manager is a key leadership role responsible and accountable for direction, team leadership, and organization of LTC activities while supporting the vision, mission, and business plan of Assisted Living Alberta. You will provide guidance, mentorship, and day to day supervision of staff within the department. You will play a key role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion, and health maintenance while providing safe, quality, patient-and family-centered care.
Description:
As the Unit Manager, you will provide leadership to an interdisciplinary team of healthcare professionals dedicated to delivering high‑quality care to Albertans. Your leadership, direction, and organization of the unit will support the vision, mission, and business plan of Assisted Living Alberta. In this role, you will make key decisions, contribute to program goals, and help drive the success of the long‑term care program at the Rising Sun Long Term Care Centre. You will develop and maintain strong working relationships with key partners, support change management initiatives, promote team development, and coordinate staffing and clinical activities as identified by the Area Manager. You will also establish and maintain an effective operational framework to ensure efficient, effective, and safe patient care. Responsibilities may include providing day‑to‑day direction to unit staff, assigning patients, conducting patient and interdisciplinary rounds, managing staff scheduling, addressing patient and staff concerns, and participating in discharge planning. In addition, you will oversee and monitor your portfolio’s budget while supporting risk management, quality assurance, and utilization activities.

Registered Nurse with an active registration and practice permit with the College and Association of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Three (3) years’ experience within the last five (5) in a leadership role Three (3) years’ experience within the last ten (10) years in LTC. BCLSHCP certification. A minimum of a bachelor’s degree with several years relevant clinical experience is required. A demonstrated clear pattern of professional and personal development. Demonstrate excellent public relations skills. Communicates and works collaboratively with residents, families, health team members, the community and staff. Ability to effect positive change. Conflict resolution and critical thinking skills. Good verbal communication skills, self-confidence, interpersonal sensitivity, initiative, creativity, and the ability to conceptualize and apply concepts to the clinical setting.
Additional Required Qualifications:
RAI 2.0 / MDS Training. Candidate must have the ability to manage a heavy workload and work in a fast -paced, dynamic work environment. Must have the ability to function as an integral part of the team.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's Degree. Clinical experience/expertise in long term care, supportive care or gerontology. Program development is an asset. Experience in rural. Proven leadership ability, excellent written and verbal communication skills.
