Unit Clerk
Your Opportunity:
The Unit Clerk is responsible for managing the flow of information and providing clerical support to staff, patients, physicians and stakeholders within the Eating Disorder Program located at the University of Alberta Hospital. The Unit Clerk position acts as the first point of contact for information for all patients and public approaching these areas. This may include but is not limited to answering phones and direct calls, preparing charts for incoming patients. (i.e. NetCare/Connect Care, background checks & prep), collecting, formatting and maintaining records, data and other program information as required. The Unit Clerk is also responsible for ensuring that adequate supplies and equipment are available on the unit. Staffing, payroll entry along with other clerical responsibilities as assigned may be required in this role. Demonstrated ability to work with minimal supervision. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively to others, both verbally and in writing. Excellent interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to foster relationships with members of the multidisciplinary team. Data collection and tracking for various subsets of information for the unit/program. Performing other clerical functions including word processing and formatting, recording and transcribing meeting minutes as required, along with any other clerical duties required to maintain unit/program operations. Transcribing and processing physician orders including admission and discharges; answering phones; maintaining inventory of supplies and equipment, including preparing adequate supply of forms, and chart packages; booking tests and procedures and/or transportation; Managing patient charts upon admission and discharge.
Description:
As a Unit Clerk, you will be responsible for the efficient flow of communication between health professionals, departments, patients and families while maintaining confidentiality of patient information. You will also be responsible for a variety of administrative tasks which may include reception, greeting and directing visitors, patients and health professionals, maintaining patient records and charts, transcribing and processing physician orders as well as scheduling patient tests and/or treatments. You will also be responsible for performing a range of administrative activities in support of the unit.

Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent. Completion of an accredited Unit Clerk Course or equivalent training program.
Additional Required Qualifications:Must have working knowledge of ESP, e-People and Connect Care. This position has transitioned to Recovery Alberta effective September 1, 2024. Preferred Qualifications:2 years clerical experience required, preferably in areas related to staffing/scheduling; experience with Addiction & Mental Health programs preferred.
