Your Opportunity:

The Sturgeon Social Work Department is seeking a Team Lead with a heart for practice excellence spanning a range of clinical settings including the ED, Women’s Health, NICU, Critical Care areas, Surgery, Medicine and Ambulatory Clinics. This position will also support Edmonton Suburban Hospital SW staff where there are varied practice needs and provide coverage and support to the Glenrose Hospital SW team. Supporting primarily inpatient environments, the SW TL is responsible for the day-to-day leadership, supervision, and coordination of staff, programs, and services related to SW practice. The TL supports Social Workers to provide high quality and safe care through supervision by understanding and applying relevant standards, legislation, policy, ethics, and guidelines. The TL advises the manager in daily operational decision-making, coordinates orientation and professional development, and provides input regarding staff and team performance. The TL participates in direct patient care, quality improvement, and supports the team with meeting documentation and activity capture expectations. The TL works in partnership with multidisciplinary teams across the sites, plans and/or provides coverage as needed, leads meetings, and is responsible for supporting the department with student practicums. The successful candidate strives for excellence in professional practice using self-reflection, integrates evidence-based practice with practice-based evidence, thinks critically, acts in alignment with social work values, and is continuously learning and innovating on how to maximize dignity-based care.

Description:

As a Social Worker III, you will perform either advanced level assessment and treatment or act as a clinical lead. You will work with or within teams to provide health care services for patients with complex and multidimensional medical, psychosocial, environmental and instrumental needs. You will provide advanced clinical services, consultation to the interprofessional team and patients/families and supervision of students and team members as assigned. You may also act as a clinical lead providing leadership in the planning, development, and delivery of services in a specific area, as well as staff development, quality improvement and evaluation or research activities as identified by the needs of the service area(s).

Required Qualifications:

Master's degree in Social Work. Active or eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Social Workers (ACSW).

Additional Required Qualifications:

Competency in Social Work supervision. Work experience in an acute setting. Experience equivalencies with crisis management and hospital work will be considered. Relevant work experience providing advanced psychosocial interventions. Competency in appropriate use of the SW role regarding the Mental Health Act and Decision-Making. Competency in appropriately applying Social Work approaches, theories, and SW Core Clinical Activities in diverse clinical settings. Demonstrated ability in leading teams, providing oversight, teaching, and the ability to facilitate practice growth in others. Advanced experience navigating complex and sensitive issues across a range of settings while being aligned with SW ethics and standards. Extensive experience succeeding at collaborative practice and delivery of interdisciplinary care. High degree of professional integrity, resourcefulness, and independent judgement. A demonstrated clear pattern of professional and personal development.
