Required Qualifications:

Grade 12 or equivalent.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Physically capable of walking/standing for the entire shift and performing repetitive movements. Able to lift up to 50lbs independently or assist in lifting up to 350 lbs. as needed; ability to push and pull patients on stretchers/beds/wheelchairs or equipment (up to 350 lbs.). Ability to squat, bend, reach in all directions and good hand and finger coordination to safely handle equipment. Required to wear Personal Protective Equipment for long periods of time (e.g. Surgical and N95 Respiratory Masks, Eye Protection, etc.). To enable applicants to perform their duties safely, they must demonstrate the ability to read, write, speak, understand, and follow written and verbal directions in English.  Basic knowledge and operation of a computer and a smartphone.  Dependable, cooperative, customer service attitude and able to work with minimal supervision. Applications that include completed job profile and resume will be considered for this position. Internal Applicants: AHS and Department Required Learning must be up to date.

Preferred Qualifications:

Knowledgeable of Portering policy and procedures. Previous hospital experience. Knowledge of cleaning and disinfecting in health care environment. Transporting patients, lab specimens and equipment. Customer service experience. Leadership experience such as working leader, shift lead, trainer or equivalent.
