Service Worker I
Your Opportunity:
Working in close collaboration with the Labour & Delivery interdisciplinary team, the Service Worker is responsible for the efficient cleaning and turnover of Labour & Delivery rooms, Assessment/Induction stretchers, and Obstetrical Operating Room theatres with the expectation to provide support to Women's OR when required. Primary responsibilities comprise of cleaning patient rooms/bays/operating theatre (includes blood and bodily fluids), set up of patient rooms and operating theaters, restocking of supplies and linens and curtain changes as required. The incumbent must demonstrate a professional attitude while working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team and consider the Essential Habits as set forth by the Royal Alex Way in daily interactions with colleagues, patients, and visitors. Description:
As a Service Worker I, you will be responsible for transporting patients (clients/residents) and equipment to and from different patient care areas within a hospital site. You will distribute and replenish hospital supplies throughout the units and clean equipment and patient care areas as directed. You may also transport lab specimens, blood and blood products, and patient charts. You will report any concerns regarding supplies and safety issues to Unit Managers and perform other duties as required.

Grade 12 or equivalent.
Additional Required Qualifications:Qualifications and Responsibilities: Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Service Worker in an inpatient unit or a fast-paced clinic setting. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are essential. Must be able to recognize and maintain confidentiality regarding sensitive information. Teamwork is crucial; candidates should demonstrate the ability to collaborate effectively with others. Independent work skills are required, including sound analytical reasoning, critical thinking, problem-solving abilities, and exceptional organizational skills. Physical Requirements: The job is physically demanding and involves repetitive tasks that require long periods of standing, walking, pulling, and lifting. Candidates must be able to move between 50-75 lbs frequently. The role also requires bending, squatting, and reaching throughout the shift. Duties Include: Maintaining and restocking supplies. Completing room and operating room (OR) turnovers. Changing laundry bags and ensuring a clean and organized work environment to facilitate access and workflow. Proficiency in English, both spoken and written, is necessary. Ability to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) as required in the workplace.
Preferred Qualifications:This is a front-line position that supports a multidisciplinary team to ensure the flow of patients through labour and delivery. Recent Service Worker experience in an inpatient setting preferred. Experience in cleaning Operating Room theatres is preferred. Familiarity with "It’s Your Move" is preferred.
