We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Senior Consultant with strong communication and relationship building skills to provide context, oversight and quality assurance for the Provincial Naloxone Program (PNP) with a focus on Edmonton and area. This role supports Alberta-based agencies, organizations, programs, medical first responders and community pharmacies in accessing and distributing naloxone kits. The role involves close collaboration with the HRS team and partners to develop, update, and disseminate public health resources, as well as the delivery and/or coordination of education and training focused on the prevention, recognition, and response to opioid poisoning. A key responsibility of this role is to establish and maintain strong professional relationships with internal and external partners. Active participation in working groups and steering committees is essential. Applying a population health approach, the Senior Consultant will contribute to the development, implementation, and sustainability of provincial initiatives that enhance the capacity of healthcare providers and communities to deliver health promotion, disease prevention, and harm reduction as part of the Recovery Oriented System of Care (ROSC). Description:

The Senior Consultant, reporting to the Program Manager of Harm Reduction Services, is a leadership role responsible for providing oversight, context, and quality assurance for the Provincial Naloxone Program (PNP), with a focus on Edmonton and surrounding area. This position supports Alberta-based agencies, organizations, medical first responders, and community pharmacies in accessing and distributing naloxone kits to individuals at risk of experiencing or witnessing an opioid poisoning. This role leverages surveillance data and local partnerships to ensure effective and efficient distribution of naloxone kits and related supplies. The Senior Consultant collaborates closely with the HRS team as well as internal and external partners to develop, update, and disseminate public health resources, and to coordinate education and training on opioid poisoning prevention, recognition, and response. The Senior Consultant is expected to be well-versed in Health Promotion as well as the Recovery Oriented System of Care (ROSC), including harm reduction. Strong relationships with community-based organizations and partners including Recovery Alberta (RA) and other departments within Primary Care Alberta (PCA) are essential to this position. Using a population health approach, the Senior Consultant contributes to the development, implementation, and sustainability of provincial initiatives that enhance the capacity of healthcare providers and communities to deliver health promotion, disease prevention, and harm reduction services as part of the recovery-oriented system of care (ROSC). This role supports Edmonton-specific initiatives by recognizing local strengths, challenges, and opportunities.
