Reporting to the Director, QPSE, you will work with a high degree of independence and creativity, leading the development and facilitation of accredited educational offerings through the Academy of Quality Improvement Sciences and other strategic initiatives. Your work will directly support the integration of quality and patient safety principles into clinical practice across AHS and to external clients. Description:
The Senior Consultant plays a pivotal role in advancing quality and patient safety education across Acute Care Alberta. The incumbent is responsible for the design, development, facilitation, and implementation of educational offerings through the Academy of Quality Improvement Sciences (AQuIS) and other strategic learning initiatives. This role requires a high degree of independence, collaboration, and innovation to ensure that learning experiences are evidence-based, learner-centered, and aligned with organizational goals. Key Responsibilities: Collaborates within the QPSE team and broader Quality Management & Improvement portfolio to promote a culture of continuous learning. Leads the formation and coordination of course Design Teams, leveraging internal expertise and established networks. Manages educational design projects to ensure alignment with best practices in instructional design, cost-efficiency, and partner needs. Conducts needs assessments and ensures learning outcomes support the practical application of quality and patient safety principles. Ensures compliance with external accreditation standards and maintains thorough documentation throughout the course development process. Oversees the implementation of new courses in accordance with QPSE workflows, in collaboration with team members. Facilitates AQuIS and other educational offerings using a variety of blended learning methods (virtual and in-person). Communicates course outlines and expectations clearly to learners and fosters an engaging, interactive learning environment. Coordinates classroom logistics and virtual learning platforms in partnership with education coordinators. Applies current best practices in instructional design to the healthcare context. Provides coaching and support to adjunct facilitators to enhance their teaching effectiveness.

A minimum of a bachelor's degree in a healthcare discipline or education. Experience in education design and delivery including face to face and/or virtual education. A sound knowledge of patient safety, quality improvement methodology, patient and family centered care and/or innovation. Significant experience in building partnerships and coalitions with internal and external stakeholders. Demonstrated ability to plan, implement and evaluate effectiveness of AQuIS courses. Proven expertise in instructional design and adult learning principles. Excellent project management, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Qualifications:
Master's degree in a healthcare discipline or education. Familiarity with healthcare systems and quality improvement methodologies is an asset. Experience with accreditation processes and educational evaluation preferred.
