Respiratory Therapist I - Float
Your Opportunity:
Are you a Respiratory Therapist interested in working to full scope of practice and expanding your knowledge and skills in a variety of patient care settings? If so, the Respiratory Therapist I - Float position at the Chinook Regional Hospital may be the perfect position for you. The Respiratory Therapist float provides coverage to all areas of the hospital that respiratory therapy supports. In addition to covering acute and critical care areas, including a 20 bed ICU/CCU, a16 bed level 2+ NICU, an 11 bed Pediatric unit and a level 3 trauma center, you will work in specialty areas at CRH. In our Outpatient RT department, you will assist with bronchoscopy and EBUS bronchoscopy, provide airway support for cardiac procedures, perform tracheostomy changes & ABGs. You will also work in the operating room and obstetrical OR in addition to working as part of the neonatal resuscitation team in the LDR. Robust orientation and training for each area will be provided. This position is a unique opportunity for respiratory therapists with recent acute and critical care experience who would like the challenge of expanding their practice into other areas of respiratory therapy. Daily service area assignments will be adjusted to meet operational needs. Description:
As a Respiratory Therapist I, you will assess patients (clients, resident), develop and implement respiratory therapy care plans and monitor their progress. You will be responsible for various diagnostic and therapeutic equipment and interventions. You will collaborate with various clinical teams and groups to enhance clinical outcomes. You will provide training and assist health care providers in the use and care of respiratory equipment as well as educate patients and their families regarding diseases, medications, equipment and treatments.

Active or eligible registration with the College and Association of Respiratory Therapists of Alberta (CARTA).
Additional Required Qualifications:Current Basic Life Support - Health Care Provider Certification. Recent acute care and critical care experience within past 5 years. Current Neonatal Resuscitation Provider (NRP) Certification. Ability to work a 11.08 hr days/ nights rotation. Ability to work in all areas of the hospital, including NICU, Pediatrics, LDR, O.R., PACU, Wards, ED, Ambulatory Respiratory Therapy, and ICU. A demonstrated pattern of professional development; display of interpersonal, communication, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills; ability to manage competing priorities, exercise independent decision-making and effectively resolve conflict; and promotion of a healthy, respectful, & safe work environment are required.
Preferred Qualifications:Previous Neonatal invasive and non-invasive ventilation experience in past 5 years. Previous O.R. experience. Previous outpatient bronchoscopy experience. Current PALS certification. Current ACLS certification. Competency in arterial line insertion. Competency in adult intubation. Competency in use of point of care ultrasound for art line insertion. Previous formal mentorship experience. Completion of preceptorship training. Relevant bachelor’s degree. Connect Care training & experience.
