Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification. Eligibility is restricted to Graduate Nurses, Graduate Psychiatric Nurses, Registered Nurses and Registered Psychiatric Nurses who have graduated within 12 months prior to the anticipated start date of the program and who have not yet obtained a regular position with AHS, Covenant Health, or Recovery Alberta. Candidates selected for an interview must review the UNA Letter of Understanding #29 - Graduate Nurse Transition Pilot Program prior to the interview. Additional Required Qualifications:Must have experience on an acute medical nursing unit within the last 12 months. Or have completed a final focus placement on an adult acute medical unit within the last 6 months. Ability to learn new skills and adapt to changing technology. Strong assessment and communication skills. Ability to work collaboratively as a member of a multidisciplinary team. Strong critical thinking and problem-solving solutions. Ability to contribute as a team member, learn within a dynamic environment and adapt/cope with change. Demonstrated excellent time management and organization skills. This position has physical requirements such as the ability to tolerate constant walking, standing, kneeling, bending, reaching, and sustaining posture within a fast-paced unit requiring lifting, pushing, and pulling of objects greater than 50lbs.
Preferred Qualifications:Proficiency with clinical documentation standards (Connect Care). Candidates with previous experience on a unit of comparable acuity/patient population are strongly preferred. ACLS preferred. Experience working with Acute Bipap, Airvo and Chest tubes preferred.
