Description:

The Practice Lead - Policy is a senior professional position that provides expert advice related to Assisted Living Alberta ALA). Outputs of work have a provincial impact on seniors health and continuing care as well as clinical practice across multiple programs / services. The Practice Lead - Policy needs to understand how services and systems are organized, the inter-relationships between the services and systems, and how the stakeholders and discipline(s) work throughout the province in order to develop solutions and advise on how to implement the solutions province-wide. The Practice Lead - Policy develops provincial governance and clinical practices, plans the implementation, and develops the evaluation system. The Practice Lead - Policy is accountable for the transfer of discipline specific and system level clinical practice knowledge to the Professional Practice Leads, Clinical Practice Leads, Practice Consultants, Senior Practice Consultants and other clinical leads across multiple care streams within ALA, ALA affiliates and contracted operators. The Practice Lead - Policy will effectively engage ALA operations/delegates in strategically planning and carrying out the governance and clinical practice activities required to enhance the current service delivery. This position is key in helping ALA achieve strategic service targets in the short-term and helps to identify mid to long-term strategic planning goals.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree in a health-related professional discipline (Nursing preferred), plus appropriate licenses and designations. Five to ten years in a clinical lead or policy development role, preferable in continuing care and ideally in an organization of significant size, complexity and diversity. Five to ten years' experience in seniors' health and/or continuing care. Demonstrated understanding of the complexity of the continuing care system and the different levels of care within continuing care. Demonstrated ability to address complex health issues and manage change in service delivery toward desired outcomes. Report development skills; demonstrated ability to translate data into information. Demonstrated pattern of professional and personal development. Equivalencies of education and experience may be considered. Skilled in research including collection and review of evidence and completion of environmental scans. Skills in report writing and comprehensive presentation.


Additional Required Qualifications:

Knowledge of the AHS Policy Development Framework. Functional expertise in Microsoft Office Suite (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Outlook, Visio, MSTeams) and SharePoint. Prosci/Change Management Certification. LEADS certification. Yellow Belt, AHS Improvement Way.


Preferred Qualifications:

Master's Degree in a health administration or health related professional discipline (Nursing) preferred. Direct experience in policy development and/or implementation is preferred. Additional relevant policy development and implementation education, training or certifications (for example Project Management, Change Management, Process Improvement). Green Belt or above, AHS Improvement Way.
