Nurse Practitioner
Your Opportunity:
This opportunity is for a Nurse Practitioner (NP) within the General Internal Medicine (GIM) Service. The NP is an advanced practice nurse (APN) who integrates clinical skills associated with nursing and medicine in order to assess, diagnose, order and interpret diagnostic tests, prescribe treatment, and perform procedures in order to manage and meet the health needs of patients. NPs have a broad and autonomous scope of practice with the ability to provide a full range of comprehensive health services to individuals across their lifespan. With graduate level education, the NP will contribute to collaborative inter-professional care through the advanced practice nursing competencies of advanced clinical practice, education, nursing leadership, and research. NP utilization of advanced practice nursing competencies has demonstrated benefits for increasing care quality and promoting appropriate use of health services, as well as informing and influencing healthcare systems. The NP in GIM works to full scope and is expected to provide leadership and participate in program development and quality improvement.

Successful completion of an approved Nurse Practitioner program, with a minimum of a Master's degree. Active registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA) on the Nurse Practitioner Registrar, including Provisional Graduate Nurse Practitioner licensure. Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Additional Required Qualifications:A Master’s Degree in Nursing with a focus on advanced clinical practice. Current registration on the Extended Practice Roster with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA), in the NP Adult Stream or NP Family all Ages with current experience as a NP in an acute care setting. A minimum of three full-time years of related experience as a Registered Nurse is also required.
Preferred Qualifications:Current NP experience in an acute setting. Experience in ICU or ED as a RN or NP. Certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS). ICU and/or ED experience is preferred.
