Description:
As the Acute Care Manager, you will be providing leadership to a team of healthcare professionals dedicated to providing leading care to Albertans. In this leadership position, you will be making key decisions and establishing and contributing to the achievements and goals of the site as well as accountable for developing and maintaining strong working relationships with key stakeholders, community engagement, facilitating change management, promoting team development, teamwork and coordinating staffing and clinical work as identified by the Site Manager. You will be developing and maintaining an effective framework for patient services to facilitate the delivery of efficient, effective, and safe patient care. These activities may include providing day-to-day direction to the staff working on the unit, daily assignment of patients, staff scheduling, rapid rounds, identifying and attempting to resolve patient, family, and staff concerns, and participating in patient flow, discussions and planning. In addition, you will be implementing and monitoring your portfolio’s budget while undertaking risk management, quality assurance, and utilization activities. Your leadership, direction and organization of the programs will be in support of the AHS vision, mission, and business plan. This includes participating in strategic and operational planning, fostering a culture of physical and psychological safety, maintaining high quality, collaborative care, creating continuous improvement, and ensuring the effective use of resources.

The Acute Care Manager position requires graduation from a recognized nursing education program, a Baccalaureate degree in Nursing, and current CRNA registration. BCLS–HCP certification is required, along with a minimum of five years of recent and relevant nursing experience and at least two years of supervisory experience. A combination of education and experience may be considered. Application package provides examples of excellent collaboration and communication skills.
Additional Required Qualifications:The ideal candidate will demonstrate a positive and enthusiastic attitude, a willingness to take on new challenges, and the ability to communicate in a professional, caring, and compassionate manner. They must have a proven record of leading teams, fostering strong interpersonal relationships, and supporting team development, as well as strong organizational, change management, and decision making skills. Effective oral and written communication skills are required. Experience with family centered care and a collaborative, team based approach is expected.
Preferred Qualifications:Completion of an accredited nursing education program - Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Understanding of Collaborative Care principles and experience with WFM training and Connect Care. Demonstrated experience in a leadership role (Charge Nurse, Nurse Educator, Professional Practice Lead, etc.). Two years of management experience within a unionized environment preferred.
