Join Our Team at Cold Lake Healthcare Centre as a Licensed Practical Nurse and explore the natural beauty of Alberta while making a meaningful impact as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) at this rural hospital with the emergency department with 10 funded patient beds. In this role, you’ll work to the full scope of your practice within a multidisciplinary team, delivering patient and family-centered care while utilizing evidence-based practices. This is a rural hospital so your care will be provided to a variety of clients that could be dealing with urgent care needs, pre- and post-surgical recovery, pediatrics, and the facility also has a Stoke Centre. Your strong organizational and critical thinking skills will be used daily as you provide wholistic care to the clients. We are looking for someone who is a strong problem solver and decision maker to assess, plan and evaluate care interventions. You believe in engaging patients and families in their care, promoting the clients’ health while delivering safe, quality care and modeling Alberta Health Services values. You will benefit from the cross training to work with all areas of the hospital and a supportive team environment including but not limited to day surgery, pre- and post-endoscopy, endoscopy suite, and clinics. As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you are part of an interprofessional health care team utilizing nursing processes, critical thinking, problem solving and decision making skills. You will be guided by your education, experience, demonstrated skill level and AHS policies and procedures. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Completion of an accredited practical nurse education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Additional Required Qualifications:You must have 2 of the last 5 years practicing as a front-line Licensed Practical Nurse on a medical/surgical unit or 1 full year of the last 3 years on an emergency/critical care unit.
Preferred Qualifications:Experienced with IV initiation and management. Direct IV push certification (if do not already have will be an expectation to be certified on the job). Certification in any of the following courses: Canadian Triage and Acuity Scale (CTAS). Current Trauma Nursing Course (TNCC). Advanced Studies in Critical Nursing (ACCN). Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC). Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS). Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS). Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP).
