Completion of an accredited Journeyperson Electrician Certificate with Red Seal from Alberta Apprenticeship and Industry Training. Must hold a valid Class 5 Alberta Operator's Licence.
Additional Required Qualifications:Grade 12 Diploma. A minimum of 5 years of previous related electrical experience in High Voltage (5kV & 13.8kV) distribution systems, complex switchgear operation and maintenance, familiarity with a variety of electrical systems and/or other institutional experience is required. Ability to troubleshoot and analyze electrical system and equipment problems. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Must be reliable, cooperative, and capable of working independently. Must be physically capable to carry out the duties of this position (i.e. walk for long periods of time, climb ladders, lift and move heavy material or equipment and respond quickly to building emergencies). Must have critical thinking skills and be able to diffuse and control problematic situations in a moment’s notice. Must be able to work in a hospital environment and work around traumatic events that occur in a hospital setting. Additional experience in a large multi-building, multi-system public facility is essential.
Preferred Qualifications:Health Care experience is considered an asset. Electrical Engineering Technologist at the NAIT/SAIT level is an asset. Power System Electrician Certificate is considered an asset. Experience in switchgear maintenance and testing is considered an asset.
