Your Opportunity:
The Food Services Attendant I is responsible for: setting up assigned beltline and/or POD positions; portioning food items; performing tray duties; preparing simple food items/special food items for meal services; assembling, delivering, serving meals to patients, completing all duties in a friendly, personalized, professional, and efficient manner. Responsible in preparation of bulk nourishments, delivering nourishment trays via the wagons to designated units and to the patient bed side using 2 patient identifiers. Also responsible for collecting patient dirty meals trays, maintaining the cleanliness of preparation/serving areas and equipment, re-stocking your designated station; dish room duties, stripping and cleaning of patient/resident trays; unpacking and storing supplies; participating in the training of new staff and students and performing other related duties as required. Please note: Classifications Under Review. Four-week rotation: Shifts are Friday & Saturday first two weeks then Saturday and Sunday next two weeks. Please note: Classifications Under Review.
Description:
The Food Services Attendant I portions, packages and/or serves food items according to menu, diet protocol, portion control and temperature standards within an acute care or continuing care setting. The position is also responsible for cleaning equipment, supplies and surfaces throughout the kitchen. This position is covered by the terms and conditions of the CUPE 2111 Collective Agreement.

Completion of Grade 10 or recognized equivalent required.
Additional Required Qualifications:Knowledge of quantity food preparation techniques, safe food handling and sanitation procedures required. Ability to read, write, speak & understand English required.
Preferred Qualifications:High School diploma or recognized equivalent preferred. An equivalent combination of education & experience may be considered. WHMIS certificate desired. Food safe certificate desired. One year of food service experience in a hospital/institutional setting is desired.
