Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT) program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Alberta (CMLTA).

Additional Required Qualifications:

Recent demonstrated skill in manual technique is required, as is knowledge of the Epic Beaker laboratory information system. Must have the ability to work safely with chemicals and solvents. Must be able to listen, comprehend and orally respond to or relay information, directions or questions in person, over the phone or in writing, in an accurate, clear and concise manner. Candidate must be well organized, flexible and able to prioritize and work under pressure. Experience operating, maintaining and troubleshooting specialized equipment with methods that include ICP-MS, LC-MS/MS, GC-MS, GC, and HPLC is required. Must have the ability to operate Windows based computer applications. Must possess the ability to promote positive working relationships. Must demonstrate and promote the APL values of Kindness, Inclusion, Innovation, Agility and Accuracy.

Preferred Qualifications:

Current experience working in a Clinical Toxicology and Trace Elements laboratory is strongly preferred, with experience in manual extractions an asset. The ability to recognize testing/procedural anomalies and act appropriately to resolve these is an asset. Recent experience in a large, complex facility is an asset, as is knowledge of quality systems, quality control theory and application.
