Completion of an accredited Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT) program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Alberta (CMLTA).
Additional Required Qualifications:Recent demonstrated skill in manual technique is required. The ability to recognize testing/procedural anomalies and act appropriately to resolve these is required. Knowledge of the Epic Beaker laboratory information system, quality system, quality control theory and application. Must have the ability to work safely with chemicals and solvents. Must be able to listen, comprehend and orally respond to or relay information, directions or questions in person, over the phone or in writing, in an accurate, clear and concise manner. Candidate must be well organized, flexible and able to prioritize and work under pressure. Computer literacy and keyboarding skills required. Must possess the ability to promote positive working relationships. Demonstrates and promotes the APL values of Kindness, Inclusion, Innovation, Agility and Accuracy.
Preferred Qualifications:Knowledge of basic endocrinology is an asset. Recent experience in manual chemistry methods including spectrophotometer, RIA, and Manual ELISA testing is preferred. Knowledge of quality systems, quality control theory and application. Operating, maintaining and troubleshooting specialized chemistry equipment which includes LC/MS/MS, Cobas e801, the Siemens BNII Nephelometer and Automated ELISA methods is preferred.
