The Unit Manager oversees the Ambulatory Clinical Programs within Recipient Transplant Services, which includes Heart, Lung, Kidney, Liver, Pancreas, Islet and Intestinal Transplant Programs for both the adult and pediatric populations. The Unit Manager will participate in resource allocation, budget planning, implementing and maintaining standards of practice, hiring, supervising and evaluating professional and support staff, facilitating the implementation of change, process and procedures in order to achieve improved outcomes in patient satisfaction, quality of care and resource utilization. Description:
The Unit Manager for the Recipient Transplant Program performs an out of scope leadership role and reports directly to the Recipient Transplant Services Patient Care Manager. This position is responsible and accountable for providing the direction, team leadership and organization over the activities of the respective Transplant programs in support of the vision, mission and business plan of Alberta Health Services. The position is responsible and accountable for making department-level decisions and having direct leadership responsibility for contributing to the achievement of the goals of Recipient Transplant Services. The Unit Manager will develop and maintain strong working relationships with key stakeholders who include patients, allied health team members, physicians, inpatient acute care teams, primary care physicians, and community stakeholders. Key responsibilities include: strategic planning, operational leadership, risk management and change leadership.

Five years of healthcare experience in either management or transplantation required. Baccalaureate preparation in nursing is required. Master’s preparation would be an asset. The Unit Manager must have a proven track record of building and maintaining positive working relationships, demonstrated flexibility and the ability to manage change. The Unit Manager will be results-oriented and possess a strong consultative management style. The successful candidate must be dynamic, innovative and a team player.
