Required Qualifications:

Current and maintained registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta required. Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing desired. Must have strong clinical nursing skills with experience in clinical practice, leadership, facilitation, coaching, people management, change management and quality improvement. Experience in unit supervision/leadership and relevant nursing management experience. Knowledge of AHS, Alberta’s healthcare structure, and of collective agreements. Current BCLS-HCP certification required- issued from Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada (HSFC) only.

Ability to engender a cooperative work environment and spirit. Ability to organize time and resources effectively. Ability to actively listen to staff and residents of the region to gain understanding of their views and to represent the concerns arising from the daily operation and model a problem-solving methodology consistent with the management philosophy of the region. Ability to articulate, promote, and implement a management process based on program management with extensive delegation to staff. Ability to assess the effectiveness of programs and activities on the basis of quantifiable outcomes. Ability to maintain confidentiality at all times. Ability to promote quality improvement strategies and methodologies to staff. Ability to collaboratively resolve the allocation of resources and other conflicts with other members of the Unit staff. Ability to function effectively within a dynamic work environment. Personal Suitability: Evidence of excellent leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills. Evidence of initiative and flexibility. Evidence of commitment to foster professional growth and effectiveness of Unit personnel. Strong commitment to the maintenance and improvement of the health of patients and their families, family centered care. Principle-based decision making.
