Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent. Completion of an accredited Unit Clerk Course or equivalent training program.
Additional Required Qualifications:As a Unit Clerk on Unit 44 Trauma/Surgery, you will be responsible for the efficient flow of communication between health professionals, departments, patients and families while maintaining confidentiality of patient information. You will also be responsible for a variety of administrative tasks which may include reception, greeting and directing visitors, patients and health professionals, maintaining patient records and charts, as well as scheduling patient tests and/or treatments. You will also be responsible for performing a range of administrative activities in support of the unit as well as patient flow and general communication within and outside the Unit. Demonstrated positive and effective interpersonal and communication skills. Demonstrated initiative, flexibility and independence. Accuracy and attention to detail is required. Connect Care experience an asset.
Preferred Qualifications:Successful completion of Medical Terminology Course. Three years’ experience as a Unit Clerk in an acute surgical setting desired. Demonstrated proficient computer skills essential with advanced knowledge of MS windows/word/excel, Clinibase, OR Manager, and ESP. Demonstrated high functioning time management and organizational skills. Demonstrated ability to prioritize work and cope with frequent interruptions in a demanding environment.
