The Innisfail Health Centre has an Acute Care department with 28 beds, Emergency Department with 10 beds and we have an Ophthalmology/OR department. This position gives you a unique opportunity to work as a Unit Clerk/Scheduler in the Acute Care and Emergency Departments. Residents have easy access to the downtown and commercial areas, as well as several parks, playgrounds, bike/walking paths, year-round access to lakes, rivers and outdoor recreation. The town has 2 large grocery stores, several restaurants, gas stations, banks, various businesses, churches, several schools, an arena, curling rink and swimming pool. Within a half-hour drive are three beautiful lakes ideal for camping and fishing and the Red Deer River is 5 minutes away. Red Deer is approximately 25 minutes North of Innisfail and Calgary is approximately 50 minutes South.

Description:

As a Unit Clerk, you will be responsible for the efficient flow of communication between health professionals, departments, patients and families while maintaining confidentiality of patient information. You will also be responsible for a variety of administrative tasks which may include reception, greeting and directing visitors, patients and health professionals, maintaining patient records and charts, transcribing and processing physician orders as well as scheduling patient tests and/or treatments. You will also be responsible for performing a range of administrative activities in support of the unit.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent. Completion of an accredited Unit Clerk Course or equivalent training program.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent. Completion of an accredited Unit Clerk. Course or equivalent training program. Knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel. Any other duties as assigned. Assist with staff scheduling, replacing of sick calls, making calls to fill shifts. Timecard access. Manage the phone, take phone messages and paging when required. Order supplies, when required. Be responsible accountable, ability to work with in a team environment and take direction when needed.

Preferred Qualifications:

Unit Clerk course. 3-5 years' experience working in the Acute Care/Emergency setting. Connect Care Access with the ability to schedule appointments, assist with Connect Care in finding results, ie labs, immunizations, Diagnostic results, Scan documents, assist with booking transfers for patients. Aware of the Medication Reconciliation Process. Maintain a professional disposition while at work, ability to deal with the public is a calm professional manner.
