The Unit Clerk (Casual) provides support to the Inpatient Psychiatry unit located at the Northern Lights Regional Health Center, in Fort McMurray. In addition to a competitive rate of pay, AHS currently has a Fort McMurray Allowance in place to an annual maximum of $12,480. This allowance is non-pensionable and is payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate of pay. This position has transitioned to Recovery Alberta effective September 1, 2024. Description:
As a Unit Clerk, you will be responsible for the efficient flow of communication between health professionals, departments, patients and families while maintaining confidentiality of patient information. You will also be responsible for a variety of administrative tasks which may include reception, greeting and directing visitors, patients and health professionals, maintaining patient records and charts, transcribing and processing physician orders as well as scheduling patient tests and/or treatments. You will also be responsible for performing a range of administrative activities in support of the unit.

Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent. Completion of an accredited Unit Clerk Course or equivalent training program.
Additional Required Qualifications:Minimum 1-year recent experience in a Unit Clerk position with preference given to those with recent experience in mental health and addiction. Basic typing skills with a minimum of 1-year recent experience utilizing computer applications such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.). Education and recent experience utilizing Connect Care.
Preferred Qualifications:Strong critical thinking skills, along with demonstrated time-management and organizational skills, in a fast-paced environment. Demonstrated ability to prioritize work, and work with frequent interruptions. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively (both verbally and written). Experience working with sensitive and confidential information in a responsible and ethical manner.
