Your Opportunity:
Under limited supervision, the Unit Clerk is responsible for performing clerical, receptionist and booking duties for the Unit. The Unit Clerk is instrumental in facilitating communication between nursing and other health disciplines, departments, patients and families, and in maintaining confidentiality of patient information. This position is a major asset to the smooth and efficient operation of the unit. The unit clerk provides clerical support including collecting/distributing mail, processing admissions for mothers and babies, creating ULI numbers, preparing forms/requisitions and maintaining supplies.
Description:
As a Unit Clerk, you will be responsible for the efficient flow of communication between health professionals, departments, patients and families while maintaining confidentiality of patient information. You will also be responsible for a variety of administrative tasks which may include reception, greeting and directing visitors, patients and health professionals, maintaining patient records and charts, transcribing and processing physician orders as well as scheduling patient tests and/or treatments. You will also be responsible for performing a range of administrative activities in support of the unit.

Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent. Completion of an accredited Unit Clerk Course or equivalent training program.
Additional Required Qualifications:Must have at least two years of related experience. Ability to work independently. Demonstrated excellent communication skills. Conflict management skills essential. Ability to prioritize within a fast-paced environment. Collaborative skills essential. MOA/UC certificate with Medical Terminology required. Current ambulatory clerk experience required. Exceptional communication and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment are essential. Connect Care experience/proficiency required. Ability to work independently and be self-directed. Strong interpersonal skills to work as part of a team. A strong commitment to providing Patient and Family Centered Care is essential for this position. 1 – 3 recent/current experience in ambulatory setting in Women’s Health Clinics required. Physical demands include computer and phone use, long hours of sitting, standing, and walking within program. Previous experience in data entry and high level of keyboarding is required. Ability to work with and support patients and families during emotionally challenging health journey. Demonstrated reliability/dependability required.
Preferred Qualifications:MOA/Unit Clerk experience in a high acuity setting is preferred. Relevant education & experience in Women’s Health Ambulatory setting
