Your Opportunity:
Unit 83 is a fast-paced Colorectal/General surgery unit that is well known as a supportive and enthusiastic mentoring environment for new staff. Working under the general supervision of the Management team, the Unit Clerk is responsible for a variety of reception and communication duties. The Unit Clerk plays a vital role in helping to foster a team environment in the unit by facilitating communication between nursing and other health disciplines, departments, patients and families and in maintaining confidentiality of patient information. Other members of the interdisciplinary team rely on the Unit Clerk's knowledge, communication and awareness of the overall unit operations.
Description:
As a Unit Clerk, you will be responsible for the efficient flow of communication between health professionals, departments, patients and families while maintaining confidentiality of patient information. You will also be responsible for a variety of administrative tasks which may include reception, greeting and directing visitors, patients and health professionals, maintaining patient records and charts, transcribing and processing physician orders as well as scheduling patient tests and/or treatments. You will also be responsible for performing a range of administrative activities in support of the unit.

Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent. Completion of an accredited Unit Clerk Course or equivalent training program.
Additional Required Qualifications:Excellent communication skills customer service skills, and multi-tasking skills required. Able to handle stressful situations. Proficient computer skills are required. 1-2 years of experience on an inpatient post-operative unit. Preferred Qualifications:Epic/Connect Care /Super User training/experience desired. MS Word, Excel and Outlook experience.
