Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent. Completion of an accredited Unit Clerk Course or equivalent training program.
Additional Required Qualifications:Intermediate computer skills required including the use of Microsoft Office suite. Demonstrated knowledge of medical terminology. Proven flexibility, conflict management and dependability. Demonstrated ability to function effectively and collaboratively within a patient and family centered healthcare team. Demonstrated excellent interpersonal skills with patients, visitors and staff. Must be able to communicate effectively in both verbal and written English. Able to request and accept direction as required. Able to understand and relate to patients in a caring and respectful manner. Ability to work in an active patient care area and adapt to frequent interruptions in activities while maintaining a calm and pleasant attitude. Effective organization and time management skills. Physical abilities: prolonged sitting, prolonged standing, repetitive movements are involved in the day-to-day work activities, and the ability to lift or move up to 10 lbs.
Preferred Qualifications:Recent Unit Clerk experience on an acute inpatient mental health unit or inpatient rehabilitation setting.
