Your Opportunity:

Please note that this position is in Manning, Alberta, six hours north of Edmonton. Reporting to the Nursing Care Manager and under the supervision of the Charge Nurse, the Unit Clerk provides clerical support to assist in the daily operations of the Long-Term Care unit at the Manning Community Health Centre. As a Unit Clerk, you will be responsible for ensuring the efficient flow of communication between health professionals, departments, patients, and families while maintaining the confidentiality of patient information. Your responsibilities will include various administrative tasks, such as maintaining patient records and charts and scheduling tests and treatments for patients. In addition, you will carry out several administrative activities to support the unit, including staff scheduling and timekeeping for acute care and long-term care. Manning is located on the banks of the beautiful Notikewin River in northern Alberta, known as the "Land of the Mighty Moose." It serves as a service center for the local agriculture, forestry, and gas industries. With pleasant summer days and midnight sunsets, living in northern Alberta offers a truly unforgettable experience. In addition to a competitive rate of pay, AHS currently has a Remote Retention Allowance in place to an annual maximum of $3,000. This allowance is non-pensionable and is payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate of pay.

Description:

As a Unit Clerk, you will be responsible for the efficient flow of communication between health professionals, departments, patients and families while maintaining confidentiality of patient information. You will also be responsible for a variety of administrative tasks which may include reception, greeting and directing visitors, patients and health professionals, maintaining patient records and charts, transcribing and processing physician orders as well as scheduling patient tests and/or treatments. You will also be responsible for performing a range of administrative activities in support of the unit.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent. Completion of an accredited Unit Clerk Course or equivalent training program.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills. Must possess strong interpersonal skills with a variety of people from various ages and backgrounds. Excellent computer skills are essential. Must possess excellent attention to detail. Ability to function efficiently in a busy environment - to efficiently manage time and prioritize multiple tasks. Ability to maintain patient privacy and confidentiality. Ability to work with minimal supervision. Ability to process, store, track and retrieve records and information efficiently in accordance with policies and procedures. Ability to maintain office equipment such as printers and copiers. Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office software. Good knowledge of Connect Care

Preferred Qualifications:

Scheduling and Timekeeping experience required. Knowledge of collective agreements.
