Our Home Care team is seeking a compassionate and motive Undergraduate Nurse to support high-quality patient care in a community setting. Key Responsibilities may include Assist with personal care tasks (e.g., bathing, grooming, dressing, mobility support). Measure and record vital signs and report changes in client conditions promptly. Support medication reminders and assist with non-complex treatments as delegated. Promote client safety, comfort, and dignity in all aspects of care. Document care activities accurately and promptly in accordance with agency standards. Develop Connect Care electronic workflow efficiencies Communicate effectively with clients, families, and interdisciplinary team members

The Undergraduate Nursing Employee (UNE) position provides an opportunity for the nursing student employed as a UNE to consolidate the knowledge and skill acquired in their approved nursing education program towards competency in the range and complexity of Registered Nurse (RN) or Registered Psychiatric Nurse (RPN) practice. The UNE is an unregulated member of the collaborative health care team who provides patient centred care with the supervision of the RN or RPN. The nursing activities performed, and level of supervision required are determined by legislation, standards of supervision outlined by regulatory colleges, Alberta Health Services (AHS) policy, educational preparation, practice setting, complexity of the patient, level of risk involved, and competency of the UNE.

Current enrolment in an approved Alberta nursing education program leading to initial entry to practice as a registered nurse or registered psychiatric nurse. Current Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support (CPR) certificate. Successful completion of 3rd year of an RN nursing education program and a minimum of 600 hours of clinical practice in an approved RN education program; or currently in the final year of an after-degree RN nursing education program and a minimum of 600 hours of clinical practice in an approved RN education program; or successful completion of 2nd year of an RPN nursing education program and a minimum of 600 hours of clinical practice in an approved RPN education program.
Additional Required Qualifications:Class 5 driver's license or non GDL. An excellent attendance record, reliability and personal suitability must be demonstrated through your employment references. Physically able to perform all assigned tasks and may involve physical exertion not limited to climbing stairs, walking outside, lifting, pulling, pushing, stooping, and carrying which may involve visits to client homes that are not ideal.
Preferred Qualifications:Skills and experience relevant to nursing practice in community sector will be considered. Current use of Connect Care and AADLs Experience with vascular therapy, wound care, client teaching, palliative support. Excellent interpersonal, communication, time management and ability to work in a collaborative team demonstrating adaptability and flexibility.
