Your Opportunity:

As a Basic Life Support (BLS) Instructor, you will use your skills to support the confidence and competence of learners to safely provide life-saving care. This position is within Clinical Transition Education, a team dedicated to clinical best practice. You will be expected to work independently, be highly organized, and be effective in using adult education principles and techniques. Working on a casual basis you may be required to work varying hours. As a BLS Instructor you will report to the Senior Practice Lead (BLS). Specifically, you will: Deliver standardized BLS Blended Learning Part 2 Skills courses. Adhere to Heart and Stroke Foundation guidelines and established curriculum. Adhere to direction set by AHS pertaining to BLS course delivery and any associated safety requirements. Set up, clean, and take down of course equipment. Provide constructive coaching and individual guidance to learners during skills demonstrations. Monitor supplies and equipment and promptly request repairs or restocking. Responsibly and promptly perform reporting duties related to course attendance, testing, and course completion. Adhere at all times to the AHS Values of Compassion, Accountability, Respect, Excellence and Safety. In addition to a competitive rate of pay, AHS currently has a Fort McMurray Allowance in place to an annual maximum of $12,480. This allowance is non-pensionable and is payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate of pay.

Description:

As a Trainer, you will participate in the development, enhancement and delivery of training for staff in accordance with AHS standards and practices. You will design, develop and deliver training materials that align with the training framework for various AHS applications and processes. Throughout the course development cycle, you will follow relevant standards to ensure a consistent approach for all training courses offered. Course delivery methods can include in-person and online facilitation as well as self-study online learning modules (e-learning). You will also provide excellent customer service and end user support to staff impacted by AHS applications and processes.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of post-secondary diploma in a related field.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Current Heart and Stroke Foundation BLS instructor certification. Three or more years’ experience in a health care setting. Excellent interpersonal, problem solving and communication skills. Basic skills with MS office (Word and Outlook).

Preferred Qualifications:

Familiarity with CPR feedback devices as used in skills demonstration. Experience with the Blended Learning format of CPR education. Practical experience with the administration of CPR.
