Completion of diploma from an accredited post-secondary rehabilitation Therapy Assistant program or equivalent training may be considered.
Additional Required Qualifications:Minimum 1-year experience working in long term care providing therapeutic recreation services for individuals with chronic conditions and complex dementia care needs. Fitness Alberta certification: Foundations in Physical Activity & Exercise and Fitness for the Older. Valid Heart & Stroke Foundation-Basic Life Support certification. Food Safety Alberta certification. Music Care experience. Expressive Arts experience. Dementia Care experience. Class 5 license. Physically capable of pushing wheelchairs for an extended period and perform client transfers.
Preferred Qualifications:Health Change Methodology. Safe Client Handling Program-It’s Your Move. Non-Violent Crisis Intervention.
