Required Qualifications:

Completion of diploma from an accredited post-secondary rehabilitation Therapy Assistant program or equivalent training may be considered.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Completion of a Recreation Therapy diploma OR Therapy Assistant diploma from an accredited post-secondary Institution Minimum 1-year experience working in a rehabilitation setting, providing therapeutic recreation for individuals with chronic conditions and complex dementia care needs. Fitness Alberta certification:  Foundations in Physical Activity & Exercise and Fitness for the Older Emergency First Aid certification. Valid Heart & Stroke Foundation-Basic Life Support certification. Aquatic Therapy certification/experience Music Care and Expressive Arts certification/experience. Dementia Care certification/experience. Class 5 license and a reliable vehicle Proven organization & time management skills. Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills. Able to accept verbal and written instructions and perform responsibilities with minimal supervision. Professional and courteous manner. Physically capable of pushing wheelchairs for an extended period and perform client transfers. Punctual, meticulous, reliable and demonstrates regular attendance Preference will be given to the candidate who currently holds these qualifications.

Preferred Qualifications:

Health Change Methodology. Safe Client Handling Program-It’s Your Move. Non-Violent Crisis Intervention. Food Safe certification.
