Completion of diploma from an accredited post-secondary rehabilitation Therapy Assistant program or equivalent training may be considered.
Additional Required Qualifications:Active Heart and Stroke Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. It’s Your Move Patient Handling annual certification. Diploma from Interdisciplinary Therapy Assistant Program - including Physiotherapy Assistant, Occupational Therapy Assistant and Speech Language Pathology Assistant. Minimum one (1) year clinical experience within the last five (5) years in an inpatient or outpatient acute care or rehabilitation area. Minimum one (1) year clinical experience within the last five (5) years in providing therapy assistant support for in: OT or PT or SLP in an interdisciplinary team. Past experience in offering and facilitating groups (face to face and virtual via Zoom). This position is physically demanding and requires repetitive lifting, twisting and transferring of patients and or equipment. You may be required to sit for prolonged periods and perform keyboarding/ computer and headset use. Intermed-advanced computer skills: Netcare, Microsoft Office, Connect Care In addition to a competitive rate of pay, AHS currently has a Remote Retention Allowance in place to an annual maximum of $3,000. This allowance is non-pensionable and is payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate of pay.
Preferred Qualifications:Delivering swallowing & speech exercises. Lymphedema experience or certification. Splint finishing/sewing/adaptive & equipment. Ability to demonstrate critical thinking and decision-making skills, in a complex environment. Professional development in last year related to rehabilitation oncology. Effective self-management/time management skills paired with initiative. Experience with virtual patient care (phone/Zoom/Telehealth).
