Completion of diploma from an accredited post-secondary rehabilitation Therapy Assistant program or equivalent training may be considered.
Additional Required Qualifications:Completion of a Recreation Therapy diploma OR Therapy Assistant diploma from an accredited post-secondary Institution Minimum 1-year experience working in a rehabilitation setting, providing therapeutic recreation for individuals with chronic conditions and complex dementia care needs Fitness Alberta certification: Foundations in Physical Activity & Exercise and Fitness for the Older. Emergency First Aid certification. Valid Heart & Stroke Foundation-Basic Life Support certification. Music Care experience. Expressive Arts experience. Dementia Care experience (Dementia Practice Guidelines for Recreational Therapy). Class 5 license and a reliable vehicle.
Preferred Qualifications:Health Change Methodology. Safe Client Handling Program-It’s Your Move. Non-Violent Crisis Intervention. Food Safe certification. Proven organization & time management skills. Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills. Physically capable of pushing wheelchairs for an extended period and perform client transfers. Punctual, meticulous, reliable and demonstrates regular attendance.
