Required Qualifications:

Completion of Grade 12.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Basic Cardiac Life Support – Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification required. Basic computer skills required. Experience in leading Recreation Therapy group activities required. Capable and willing to provide support to SLPs in conducting swallowing assessments using X-ray technology. Ability to assist with client lifts and transfers, positioning, and basic ADL and IADL within the context of therapy program. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to interact with members of the interdisciplinary team, patients, and families in a dynamic health care setting. Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team required. Skilled in problem solving, critical thinking, conflict resolution, self-initiative and brings a creative, patient, and sensitive approach to daily work. Excellent organizational and time management skills to efficiently organize and prioritize workload to keep pace in a busy multi-disciplinary patient care environment. Demonstrates behaviour consistent with the values of AHS – Compassion, Accountability, Respect, Excellence, and Safety.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in adult rehabilitation and acute care an asset. Experience supporting Speech Language Pathologist dysphagia (swallowing) assessment preferred. Recreation certificate. Geriatric/Cognitive Impairment experience and education. Previous training in Connect Care an asset.
