Surgical Processor Development
Your Opportunity:
As a Surgical Processor- in Development, you will be responsible for adhering to CSA standards and Alberta Health Guidelines performs technical duties under the DIRECT supervision of a Certified MDRT (preceptor) relating to the disassembly, decontamination, assembly, function testing, Sterilization, storage, and distribution of reprocessed hospital supplies, equipment and surgical instrumentation. The MDRT Developmental Role will be required to obtain certification within 65 full time shifts or 503.75 hours. This can be extended with discussion with Human Resources. Human Resources will be able to determine the number of hours to extend.
Description:
The Surgical Processor - Developmental is a trainee position that assists in the sterilization of medical equipment and instruments in accordance with Alberta Health Services standards and practices. As a Surgical Processor - Developmental, you will be responsible for assisting with the decontamination, reassembly and sterilization of hospital supplies, equipment and surgical instrumentation under the supervision of a Surgical Processor. You will use the principles of aseptic technique and follow Universal Precautions in the prevention of Hospital Acquired Infections (HAI). You will ensure instrumentation and equipment is in proper working order, perform biological, chemical and quality assurance testing and report problems to the supervisor or designate.

Completion of or enrolment in the Sterile Processing Technician program.
Additional Required Qualifications:Grade twelve or equivalent basic computer skills required must be a graduate of a recognized MDR program and be eligible for certification (IAHCSMM or CSA) within 65 full time shifts or 503.75 hours. (Probation period as per Union) Must be able to comprehend, speak, read and write English fluently and be understood by other with whom they are in contact with. Requires manual dexterity and ability to perform repetitive tasks using fine motor skills: must be in good health without limitation affecting standing, sitting and walking; must be able to regularly lift sets weighing 10 kg and occasionally lift up to 18kg and push/pull carts weighing up to 110kg. Must be capable of continuous productivity in stressful situations. Ability to work closely with others in a cooperative manner. Must be service oriented, reliable and pay close attention to detail.
