Your Opportunity:

The Medicine Hat Regional Hospital Medical Device Reprocessing Department is currently looking to hire a Certified Medical Device Reprocessing Technician (CMDRT) - Surgical Processor in a casual position. We are a multi-disciplinary team providing services to the Surgical and Endoscopy Suites for our hospital site and the Brooks Health Centre. This is a great opportunity as our team works in all areas of Medical Device Reprocessing. You must be certified by CSA or HSPA (formerly IAHCSMM) to work as a MDRT in AHS facilities.

Description:

As a Surgical Processor, you will be responsible for the decontamination, reassembly and sterilization of hospital supplies, equipment and surgical instrumentation. You will use the principles of aseptic technique and follow Universal Precautions in the prevention of Hospital Acquired Infections (HAI). You will ensure instrumentation and equipment is in proper working order, perform biological, chemical and quality assurance testing and report problems to the supervisor or designate.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited Medical Device Reprocessing (MDR) program. Completion of an Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA) certification or Canadian Standards Association (CSA) certification.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Must demonstrate proficiency in reading, writing & following written & verbal instructions in English. Adheres to Canadian medical device reprocessing standards 2023, AHS, IPC, Provincial & dept standards, processes, practices, guideline. Conducts quality monitoring tests to evaluate the operation of the equipment, ensure cleaning parameters, HLD, sterilization parameters pass.

Preferred Qualifications:

Demonstrates safe operation of reprocessing equipment & cleaning & handling of delicate, flexible & surgical instrumentation. Must be versatile to rotate through & complete assignments. Understands importance & follows through maintaining accurate records. Acts on potential problems by communicating to Working Leads. Exemplifies critical problem solving/decision making skills around prioritization of instruments to process to meet surgical requirements, customer complaints.
