Student Project Coordinator – ALA Business and Clinical Support
Your Opportunity:
Kick start your career with meaningful, hands on experience as a Summer Student with Assisted Living Alberta (ALA)! This is your chance to take what you’ve learned in the classroom and apply it in a real world healthcare setting where your work truly makes an impact. You’ll support project planning, coordination, documentation, and communication across a variety of initiatives that strengthen operations, improve reporting, enhance training readiness, and contribute to system wide optimization. ALA plays a vital role in supporting Albertans through a comprehensive assisted living system that includes medical and non medical services, continuing care homes, home care, community care, and social supports. Our mission is to deliver care more effectively and consistently across the province by expanding home and community services, improving access to supportive living environments, and ensuring Albertans and their caregivers have the information they need to make informed decisions. We’re looking for students who communicate clearly, stay organized, and thrive in a fast moving environment. If you manage your time well, pay attention to detail, and enjoy learning new things, you’ll fit right in. Join this collaborative, multidisciplinary team and build foundational skills in project coordination, stakeholder support, documentation, and healthcare operations. ALA is hiring 12 Summer Students across the province, with two positions available in each corridor: Edmonton, Calgary, North, Central, and South. Placement location is flexible and negotiable.
Description:
The Summer Student role offers an undergraduate student the opportunity to gain practical experience in project planning, coordination, documentation, and communication within a healthcare environment. Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer and Executive Associate, you will contribute to a range of projects and initiatives that support program operations, reporting, training, and system readiness. Under the guidance of program leadership, you will help track tasks, timelines, milestones, and deliverables, and maintain project plans and status logs using standard tools and templates. Key responsibilities include supporting meeting coordination, preparing agendas, capturing notes and action items, and assisting with the development of progress updates, briefing materials, and presentations. You will help ensure accuracy, version control, and consistency across project documents, and maintain organized electronic files. You may also serve as a coordination point between team members by drafting communications, tracking requests, and organizing shared information, while adhering to privacy and confidentiality requirements.
