Required Qualifications:

Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology. Active or eligible registration and practice permit with the Alberta College of Speech Language Pathologists and Audiologists (ACSLPA).

Additional Required Qualifications:

Current Basic Life Support (BLS-HCP) certification is required. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with demonstrated critical thinking, planning and organizational skills are essential. The qualified candidate will have adult acute care hospital care experience. You will be able to effectively prioritize a mixed caseload of dysphagia and communication disorders. You will have demonstrated a history of learning and have the fundamental skills for assessing and treating patients with dysphagia. Knowledge and experience completing instrumental dysphagia assessments (VFSS) is required. Your quality of work must meet departmental and organizational expectations. Demonstrated clarity in your communication, organization and consistency of ideas, both verbally and written, including clinical documentation, is required. You must be highly motivated, confident, and enthusiastic individual with a positive attitude whose work aligns with AHS Values. Able to utilize strong judgment by analyzing facts, considering the impact, and arriving at a sound conclusion, seeking counsel when appropriate. You can work independently and as a part of the team creating strong, effective interpersonal working relationships with peers and other caregivers. You are a reliable worker who uses time effectively and is able to prioritize and complete assigned tasks. You have effective teaching skills for students and other professionals.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with the complex medical patient populations (end of life, chronic disease management, post ICU, dementia) is an asset. Instrumental assessment (VFSS) and FEES competence is an asset. Please ensure your AHS career profile is updated and comprehensive, which includes your knowledge, experiences, and skills. Basic computer skills, and familiarity with Netcare, Outlook and other electronic medical records are preferred.
