Your Opportunity:
The Alberta Children's Hospital (ACH) is a warm & vibrant workplace, with team members providing service to children & their families in inpatient units & ambulatory clinics. The Social Worker II, as part of the ACH site wide Social Work service, ensures their clinical practice is patient/family centered, delivered in accordance with the Social Work Standards of Practice and Code of Ethics, evidence based, research informed, and aligned with program/clinic frameworks. The Social Worker II will deliver primary support to a variety of inpatient medical clinic areas at ACH and will be oriented to outpatient clinics as required. The Social Worker II will be responsible for psychosocial assessment and support; specialized resource intervention; risk screening, family education, supportive counselling, discharge planning and consultation to other health care providers. As the successful candidate, you will demonstrate the ability to work collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team, exhibit excellent clinical reasoning & problem-solving skills including analytical thinking & conflict resolution/negotiation, be organized in managing a diverse & complex caseload, demonstrate initiative, adaptability & flexibility to meet varying clinical & operational needs, and demonstrate effective interpersonal & verbal/written communication skills. You will receive guidance, mentoring, & leadership appropriate to your level of experience.
Description:
As a Social Worker II, you will be a member of an inter-disciplinary team and provides a range of social work services to patients and their families. Your services may include: psychosocial assessment, resource-based interventions, individual, group and family treatment, risk screening, counselling, case management and coordination, transition or discharge planning, and prevention, promotion and public awareness activities.

Completion of bachelor's degree in Social Work. Active or eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Social Workers (ACSW).
Additional Required Qualifications:Minimum 3-5 years experience within inter-disciplinary team acute & tertiary pediatrics & complex populations 0-5 years. Knowledge of child development. Education/experience supporting patients & families: adjustment to diagnosis, medical compliance and grief & loss. Experience working with child welfare and medical Social Work: child maltreatment and neglect & domestic violence. Experience with community resources & early intervention programs. Working knowledge of Connect Care including referral management and documentation practices.
Preferred Qualifications:Training in motivational interviewing. Training in Cognitive Behavioural approaches. Training and experience with a Family Systems approach.
