Your Opportunity:

Reporting to the Care Manager, Recovery Supports and Day Program. The Social Worker II is an integral member of an interdisciplinary team supporting the recovery process for adults living with addiction and/or mental health concerns. This role brings a social justice lens and a holistic approach to assessments, interventions, evaluation, and advocacy—always upholding the dignity and autonomy of the individual. Key Responsibilities: Conduct comprehensive assessments and collaboratively develop recovery-oriented social work interventions based on client-defined goals. Provide clinical interventions that may include urgent responses, ongoing support, or short-term consultation. Work closely with clients, families, interdisciplinary team members, and external agencies to enhance natural supports and promote independence and self-management. Implement and evaluate individual and group interventions, contributing to continuous quality improvement within the program. Core Competencies & Knowledge: Strong understanding of how mental illness and addiction impact adults, and how social, recreational, vocational, and educational pursuits can serve as therapeutic interventions. Extensive knowledge of community resources, particularly housing supports and financial agencies/supports, to assist individuals in achieving stability and independence. Ability to engage clients in a welcoming, respectful manner while demonstrating sound clinical judgment and recovery-oriented practices. Skilled in advocacy, systems navigation, and promoting social inclusion. This position has transitioned to Recovery Alberta effective September 1, 2024. Your services may include: psychosocial assessment, resource-based interventions, individual, group and family treatment, risk screening, counselling, case management and coordination, transition or discharge planning, and prevention, promotion and public awareness activities.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of bachelor's degree in Social Work. Active or eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Social Workers (ACSW).

Preferred Qualifications:

2 years community mental health experience.
