This is an excellent opportunity to join the Stollery Children's Hospital and work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary teams in an intensive care unit setting. The Royal Alexandra Hospital NICU is a fast-paced learning environment with an exceptional team of professionals that support our patients and families as they are cared for in the acute setting. The successful candidate will serve as an advocate and champion for our newborns and their families as well as support other ambulatory clinics within the Stollery. The successful candidate will be compassionate and caring with a focus on patient and family centered care. Your skills in communication and resource management will be proven and your ability to prioritize and function within a team setting is crucial. You will have a proven track record for maintaining professional boundaries and practicing within the established policy and procedures of AHS. You will magnify the values and mission statement of AHS and have proven engagement strategies to meet the needs of our children.
Description:
As a Social Worker II, you will be a member of an inter-disciplinary team and provides a range of social work services to patients and their families. Your services may include: psychosocial assessment, resource-based interventions, individual, group and family treatment, risk screening, counselling, case management and coordination, transition or discharge planning, and prevention, promotion and public awareness activities.

Completion of bachelor's degree in Social Work. Active or eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Social Workers (ACSW).
Additional Required Qualifications:Diversity and Inclusion training. Indigenous training and cultural awareness completed. Grief and loss therapy and experience. Must be highly skilled in adjustment disorder counselling and crisis management interventions. 3 years' experience in acute care pediatric tertiary hospital setting. Ability to work within community systems and to identify resources for best long-term impact and outcomes. Must be highly organized with the ability to prioritize. Strong advocacy skills are essential. Active listening and empathy. Critical thinking for complex situations and solution focused.
Preferred Qualifications:A proven team player with the ability to engage both families and dynamic professionals is essential. Current experience in an NICU environment. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Dialectical Behavior Therapy. Second language. Analytical skill. Well-developed written and oral communication. Must be highly organized.
