Your Opportunity:
This Social Worker II (SW II) position is a 1-year temporary position with our TAWAW Supportive Housing team. This SWII position provides community-based services to persons experiencing homelessness or who are at risk of homelessness. TAWAW will provide health services in a non-traditional manner to minimize health disparities and barriers for the underserved population within Fort McMurray. In addition to a competitive rate of pay, AHS currently has a Fort McMurray Allowance in place to an annual maximum of $12,480. This allowance is non-pensionable and is payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate of pay. This position has transitioned to Recovery Alberta effective September 1, 2024. Description:
As a Social Worker II, you will be a member of an inter-disciplinary team and provides a range of social work services to patients and their families. Your services may include: psychosocial assessment, resource-based interventions, individual, group and family treatment, risk screening, counselling, case management and coordination, transition or discharge planning, and prevention, promotion and public awareness activities.

Completion of bachelor's degree in Social Work. Active or eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Social Workers (ACSW).
Additional Required Qualifications:Minimum 3-year experience working in a Community Addictions and Mental Health setting doing outreach work including work with the vulnerable population.
Preferred Qualifications:Knowledge of philosophy of Harm reduction practice. Experience working with vulnerable populations. Demonstrated effective communication skills. Nonviolent crisis intervention training. Ability to foster partnerships, establish and maintain strong working relationships with public agencies and government.
