Your Opportunity:

This is an excellent opportunity to work at the Stollery Children's Hospital in the Stollery Emergency Department. The successful candidate will have experience in an acute care pediatric tertiary hospital; experience with trauma informed care; Pediatric Addictions and Mental Health and Child and Family services. Will also possess proven communication skills to work cooperatively with the health care team members, patients, and their families in a fast-paced environment. Strong professional judgment, initiative, and effective time management skills are necessary. Quality of work must meet departmental and organizational expectations. Demonstrated clarity in communication, organization, and consistency of ideas, both verbally and written, including clinical documentation, is required. Able to act quickly and decisively using critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Able to utilize strong judgment by analyzing facts, considering the impact, and arriving at a sound conclusion, seeking counsel when appropriate. Able to work independently and as a part of the team creating strong, effective interpersonal working relationships with peers and other caregivers. Reliable and uses time effectively. Must be highly motivated, confident, and enthusiastic individual with a positive attitude whose work aligns with AHS and Stollery Values. Proven track record for maintaining professional boundaries and practicing within the established organizational policies and procedures. The successful candidate will serve as an advocate and champion for our patients and their families and will be compassionate and caring with a focus on patient and family-centered care.

Description:

As a Social Worker II, you will be a member of an inter-disciplinary team and provides a range of social work services to patients and their families. Your services may include: psychosocial assessment, resource-based interventions, individual, group and family treatment, risk screening, counselling, case management and coordination, transition or discharge planning, and prevention, promotion and public awareness activities.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of bachelor's degree in Social Work. Active or eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Social Workers (ACSW).

Additional Required Qualifications:

Experience in an acute care pediatric tertiary hospital; crisis intervention; adjustment disorder counselling; Grief and loss counselling; youth and addictions; mental health deregulation; patient flow optimization; Indigenous awareness training; Current Basic Life Support (BLS-HCP) certification is required. Demonstrated ability to foster collaborative partnerships and relationships, strong communication and collaboration with multidisciplinary team, critical thinking and conflict resolution.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in a Pediatric emergency setting, Pediatric mental Health, Pediatric Critical care, Pediatric quaternary trauma care. Experience working with in an electronic medical record - connect care and net care preferred master's degree and authorization for restricted psychosocial interventions are an asset. CBD, CBT.
