Your Opportunity:

St. Therese – St. Paul Healthcare Centre is seeking a dedicated Social Worker to join the Mental Health and Addictions team in Recovery Alberta. This role supports clients by addressing psychosocial, legal, and financial barriers that impact timely transitions to appropriate options. Responsibilities include conducting holistic psychosocial assessments, helping clients access financial programs (e.g., Alberta Seniors Benefit, AISH), navigating the healthcare system, managing legal decision-making mechanisms, and complex family dynamics such as elder abuse and caregiver burnout. The Social Worker II provides counselling, crisis intervention, and mediation, while collaborating with an interdisciplinary healthcare team across various sectors and external resources. They offer bio-psychosocial assessments, resource navigation, advocacy, and referrals to both internal and external services. Additionally, the role involves program planning, evaluation, and quality improvement initiatives. Strong communication, problem-solving, prioritization, and independent work skills are essential. As a Social Worker II, you will be a member of an inter-disciplinary team and provides a range of social work services to patients and their families. Your services may include: psychosocial assessment, resource-based interventions, individual, group and family treatment, risk screening, counselling, case management and coordination, transition or discharge planning, and prevention, promotion and public awareness activities.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of bachelor's degree in Social Work. Active or eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Social Workers (ACSW).

Additional Required Qualifications:

Minimum 1-2 years experience in Mental Health and able to work in a complex, fast-paced environment, managing high acuity, and high-risk presentations. This position has been identified and is anticipated to transition to Recovery Alberta effective September 1, 2024. Preferred Qualifications:

Knowledge of relevant legislative Acts and experience with guardianship, trusteeship, personal directives and capacity assessment process is an asset. In-depth knowledge of Income Support programs at a community/provincial/federal level (AISH, Alberta Works, CPP, OAS, ASB) and other community resource expertise is preferred.
