Your Opportunity:

An exciting opportunity exists in St. Paul, Alberta! St. Paul is located approximately 200 km northeast of Edmonton. The area is home to approximately 6000 people. St. Paul is along the southern leg of the Iron Horse Trail - 300 km of former railroad that has been adapted for hiking, biking, horseback riding, quadding, or snowmobiling. If trails aren't for you, they also offer both indoor and outdoor ice rinks, a curling rink, a riding barn and fair grounds, tennis courts, golf course, ball diamonds and soccer fields. Camping, fishing and other lake activities are in abundance as there are many, many beautiful lakes surrounding our town. As a member of the Allied Health team you will be assisting the inpatient psychiatry unit and also members of the community. This position allows for significant and ongoing interaction with clients that suffer from severe and ongoing mental health concerns, as well as clients with active addictions. Communicating with the interdisciplinary team and a working team of allied health professionals including addiction counselling, recreation therapy, and occupational therapy will be part of daily duties. 1:1 assessments with clients and also group psychoeducational programming is part of this role. Please note, this facility provides Long Term Care (LTC) or Designated Supportive Living (DSL) services and by Order of the Chief Medical Officer of Health, many AHS employees are restricted to work only at a single LTC/DSL site for the remainder of the pandemic. Speak to the hiring manager who will confirm if, as the successful candidate in this position, you will be restricted to work at only one LTC/DLS site in Alberta.

As a Social Worker II, you will be a member of an inter-disciplinary team and provides a range of social work services to patients and their families. Your services may include: psychosocial assessment, resource-based interventions, individual, group and family treatment, risk screening, counselling, case management and coordination, transition or discharge planning, and prevention, promotion and public awareness activities.
