Your Opportunity:
10-1A provides patient and family-centered care, with all team members working within the CoACT collaborative care model and Addiction and Mental Health. The RPN Adult Acute Psychiatry is responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of patient care for adults presenting with acute addictions and mental health concerns. The RN/ RPN will provide safe, effective, and stage-matched nursing care according to clinical policies, procedures, and evidence-based nursing care standards working within a concurrent capable, recovery-oriented framework, within the context of a multidisciplinary team.
Description:
As a Registered Psychiatric Nurse (RPN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of the organization. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit holders will be paid $39.58 - $54.16 per hour. Upon obtaining a full licence, the rate of pay will be adjusted to the applicable Registered Psychiatric Nurse rate in accordance with AHS/UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii) as applicable.

Completion of an accredited psychiatric nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Psychiatric Nurses of Alberta (CRPNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification. Eligibility is restricted to Graduate Nurses, Graduate Psychiatric Nurses, Registered Nurses and Registered Psychiatric Nurses who have graduated within 12 months prior to the anticipated start date of the program and who have not already obtained a regular position with AHS, Covenant Health, or Recovery Alberta. Candidates selected for an interview must review the UNA Letter of Understanding #29 - Graduate Nurse Transition Pilot Program prior to the interview. Additional Required Qualifications:Working knowledge of relevant legislation is required, including the Alberta Mental Health Act and the Health Information Act. Working knowledge of psychotropic medications and psychopathology. Experience working with the CoACT model of care is required. Working knowledge and understanding of the principles of trauma-informed care.
