Within Cancer Care Alberta, Supportive Care services are provided by a team of health care professionals dedicated to enhancing the quality of life of those affected by cancer in Alberta, by providing support and expert care from the time of cancer diagnosis, through treatment and beyond. The team of professionals that work within Cancer Care are leaders in cancer prevention, diagnosis, treatment, survivorship and palliative care, all on a foundation of world class research. Supportive Care North is now accepting applications for a Sexual Health Consultant to deliver health programming to cancer patients with oncology-related sexual health concerns. As part of the Supportive Care team the Sexual Health Consultant will work to increase patients access to oncology-related sexual health resources, including offering patient and provider education (materials and teaching), as well as assessment and intervention in individual, couples and group formats. Collaborating with other health care professionals, you will use a team-based approach. This will include triaging patients to consult with Sexual Health Consultant, psychosocial clinicians, and/or medical staff. The Sexual Health Consultant will also offer patient assessment and intervention in individual, couples and group formats. This position is located at the Edmonton General Continuing Care Centre site, Satellite of the Cross Cancer Institute in Edmonton, with sexual health consultation activities also conducted via remote technologies for patients residing and/or receiving treatment across Alberta.
Description:
As a Sexual Health Consultant, you will be responsible for developing and delivering sexual health programing to address patients' sexual health impairments. You will provide patients with access to sexual health resources and services, including patient and provider education as well as assessment and intervention in individual, couples and group formats. You will collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to develop patient education materials and triage to health care professionals as required.

Completion of post-secondary education in a related health care field (e.g. social work, psychology). Minimum one year experience in providing sexual health services or equivalent experience in related field will be considered.
Additional Required Qualifications:Post-secondary education in a health-related field (social work, occupational therapy, psychology, etc). Minimum 1 year training/experience in sexual health is required. Eligible candidates will possess registration, or provisional registration with Appropriate Regulatory College under the HPA.
Preferred Qualifications:Experience in oncology-specific sexual health, preferably with medical populations. Experience in developing health programs. Training to enhance teaching, facilitation, group interaction and counseling skills. Able to work in a busy, fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions and changing priorities. Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team and utilizing shared workspace. Flexibility and adaptability are essential traits. Experience with Connect Care EMR.
